Would that be something likely to be pulled? I can't see that being any more offensive than a set of SS figures.

But that's just my thinking of course.

well if they pull anything with swastikas on it, it would make sense they pull the guy that embodies what the swastika stands for...

an old hausser Hitler figure, giving the Nazi salute. 3 inches tall. Quite a nice looking figure.

We at aviatornut actually tried with several factories to get a Hitler figure made but no one was interested. I think that it would be a great seller, who does not want a Hitler in their collection?..lol

There is a lady here on the Isle of Staten who makes 12'' versions of all the top Nazi's. I've seen pics and they are close to reality,

Not my cup of tea, so I didn't keep her number but the figures are around.

I hate the PC crowd, but if push comes to shove, I think I would support a ban on these figures. They caused just too much hurt. I would be against the PC crowd only because, if they ban Hitler toys, what's next, all German soldiers, all Japanese soldiers.....all toy guns? then all real guns?...how about banning knives? clubs? frozen leg of lambs? No end to this.......I think I'll go for a run with sicssors

I would like to see a set of all top level figure heads from WWII in 1/18 scale, axis and allies. After all they are all a part of history.

Seriously, though, pull up the main page on Ebay for Action Aigures under the Toys & Hobbies section & a few auctions down there's some items with some soft-core porn pictures that somehow have made it past the ebay censors

Next thing you know, they'll be making 1/18 scale models of gas chambers - what the hell is next?? I don't know, call me crazy, but sometimes I get the impression that there are a lot of closet Nazis in the modelling world. This is just my opinion but I personally wouldn't want to glorify the Nazi Regime by buying any representation of it. I don't have a problem of its for Historical sake but some people seem to be wayyyy into it. And yes, I know I will take a lot of heat for this.

No heat, but this thread started out pretty much OT and now there is no doubt that it is. I would hope it gets moved or locked, just imo.

My input is that if you take Ebay out of the equation the smaller guys have a chance. Ebay is the Wallmart of the "ethernet." If evilbay is not willing to sell the products then they become that much more limited. Why, you may ask.... Well if the mass-retail will not sell the products and ebay will not sell the products then there is only a few other places to find the product: 1) etailers 2)Small brick and mortar 3)manufacturer.

This being said... I do not think that we should be so concerned with what ebay will allow or will not allow. This product will be hard to find, and in return that much more collectable.

i'm not a fan of hitler, or nazis but i love the GERMAN engineering of that period.
they built some of the finest planes, tanks,& ships the world had ever seen
for a country the size of Virginia to hold the world at bay for 4 years says something of there engineering

I've often said that if the story of WWII were a movie, people would say it was too far fetched and unbelievable. And therein lies its fascination for so many, i think. A series of incredibly dramatic events and 'plot twists', that actually happened.

Most people are far more interested in the later war years (43-45) because then it was Germany (the underdog) against the world, fighting nobly and futilely, for her life. Very romantic and appealing (most people are drawn to annihilation fantasies...especially men).

The early war years are far less of interest to most because then it was Germany, the bully, beating up on a bunch of tiny nations (Germany was the largest country in Europe, pre-war, population-wise). Not quite as appealing.

Add to the mix the ultimate evil of the Nazi party, with the arch villian, Hitler and the fact that alot of the German military designs look visually appealing in both shape and colouring (helmet, mp-40, camo smocks, u-boats, many aircraft and tanks etc) and you have a true to life Star Wars saga.

Irresistable.

Digger: It's always a judgement call as to what goes in 'off topic' and what does not. This thread started out about war toys, WWII and XD related in a way, so i really don't think it's that far off topic, as opposed to say, discussing the soccer scores.

Also, many threads on this forum start out very relevant and then stray off topic. Am i too immediately move them or lock them when they do? So far opinions are being expressed but no insults have been exchanged, nor have there been any vulgarities.

These forums are intended to allow a bunch of enthusiasts the chance to discuss what they are enthusiastic about. If threads are constantly being moved, locked, deleted etc etc then that enjoyment will be lost, or at least curtailed. So i tend to give a bit of a free hand, when no harm is being done.

I make every effort to keep censorship to a bare minimum on these forums.

There have been many, many German Toys portraying the reign of the Third Reich! These have been highly collectable, just look at the Elastolin and Hauser toys! Any of the German Toy manufactures set trends for toys in the years beginning in the early 1900's until the late sixties when the Japanese found cheaper ways to manufacture toys!

As for German engineering, it has always been excellent when it came to mechanical things! The infatuation with the Third Reich is they had the best Military Vehicles and Uniforms of the day! But others caught on quickly and overcame the obstacle!
As a transplanted Kraut, I love my heritage but I like U.S. WWII vehicles better! Guess I root for the underdog!

That started out about 1:18 scale planes on ebay, and took a similar turn but was locked. Proceed if you will but comments about closet Nazis can surely be seen as OT at best imo.

Digger made a very valid point and one that has crossed my mind is YES, the Germans were ingenius in the realm of engineering and THAT FACT STANDS till the day. Several Examples past to present: The MG-42 family of guns. Today's M-60 is a mechanical descendant of it. Jet engine technology...heck lots of aviation innovations here. The designs of their armor vehicles were ahead of its time in terms of technology and aesthetics. The MP 40 series of rifles heavily influenced the Automat Kalashinkova Family of Rifles and even the Galil. Modern Era. It's the German's inherent attention to detail and accuracy in my opinion which strives today. Automobiles. BMW? Mercedes (okay I may take a lil flak here) Household appliances. Braun has come up with pretty crafty every day things. I used to live in Germany myself and they're really cool people.

And isn't today's designs for the Mercedes a direct decendent of the Tiger tank? Alot of similiarities there.

Want wasn't the Braun kitchen appliences evolved from designs by Eva herself?
