Schleich trees

Has anyone got the Schleich trees? I got six of them off the Internet, they are a little pricey but I really like them. They have 2 sizes of fir trees and 2 sizes of hardwood. I think they all work well with 1/18 scale stuff.

I can remember the exact price but the most expensive one, a hardwood, was like $25 and the small fir was $12. Give or take $1 or $2. I think they are a little expensive but like them.

those trees are quite nice. i like the look of them too. I found an ebay seller selling the large ones for $20 each. That's the cheapest i've found. PTE needs to make trees like that, for about 1/4 the price.
Very nice find.

There's some Playmobil pine trees that look alot like those in the picture, save that they are smaller and don't have the realistic weathering. They were avaliable in accessory sets (of just the trees) on the Playmobil online store.

That's about what I paid for the various large palm trees from Petsmart so until PTE issues their version, that's about the best you can do. They look good!

Those look really nice. I'll tell you something that would make them look even nicer would be to give the trunks a drybrush of a lighter shade of brown and the fir a lighter shade of green. With the beautiful textures on them, this would really bring out the details and add to the 3D appearance. As a modeler and painter of miniatures for years, I found a little drybrush can really add alot to your vegetation. That's what I have done and then seal them with dullcote to reduce the shine (if any) and reduce the plastic look.
Good luck,
Dennis

With the christmas season almost in full swing, you can usually get good deals on pine/fir trees at places like hobby lobby, michaels, etc. The underscaled christmas village sets usually have trees beyond just pine that could work as well. There are also Halloween village-type sets that I've seen a good selection of autumn-colored trees sold with. Again, they're a little small, but the great thing about trees is in real life they come in all shapes and sizes
The after-christmas sales are fabulous for the pine trees -- I think I paid no more than $6 for a big 3-foot pine tree (basically imagine a smaller version of a fake Christmas tree, and with a faux-wood trunk). Some of these use a slice of a real pine branch for the base. I picked up a bunch of ~8" trees like this at Big Lots for around a buck each.
Anywhere that sells model railroad supplies usually has a selection of quality fake trees. The larger-scale train sets have trees of good size. They can get a bit pricey too, but still a bit less than the Schleich ones if you shop around.
Also, where is the ox cart sold? I couldn't find a buy option on the Schleich site? I think something like those carts would still work for WWII setups --- didn't the Germans and Russians use quite a bit of animal-pulled supplies? Also, in the Cabanatuan prisoner camp raid in the Philippines, ox-like carts were used to evac the injured prisoners who couldn't walk. They left that part out of "The Great Raid"

Aferg, where's your imagination gone
You could hook it up to an ox and have some peasants smuggling an allied airman hidden under some hay through a German checkpoint with the guards sticking their bayonets in to check; hopefully they'll miss the airman!
