Just won this on Ebay. It's a bit under scale, about 1/20, but no way i could pass it up.

unfortunately it's going to be just a bit too small to put a jeep inside, which was my original intention. Still i think it will look pretty nifty being towed by one of my C-47's, which are about the same scale.

That is cool! You could fit some figures in there as well. I once built a 1:72 scale Waco CG-4 that has been on display in a local military museum for some years now

One of its first goals was to locate and restore a WACO CG-4A glider for public display. Several glider pilots in the Dallas area learned about a CG-4A glider sitting atop a tire store in Fresno, California. After World War II, the aircraft had been purchased as military surplus, placed on top of the building and used as advertising. The glider was purchased and restoration was completed in time for the 1979 national reunion in Dallas. After the reunion, steps were taken to build a museum to house the CG-4A.

post war many of the unused and still crated gliders were purchases by the general public soley for the purpose of using the wood crates the gliders came in to build new homes. There was a big wood shortage in the post war housing boom. The gliders themselves were scrapped.

My glider arrived today. Unfortunately, it got fairly beaten up in transit. Tailfin was crushed, right side of fuselage caved in, and leading edge of right wing also caved in.

I was pretty disappointed but then i realized it looked the way a lot of gliders looked after landing on D-Day. So, i'm going to make lemonade out of it and put it in a post landing diorama scene. The good news was that it is just wide enough to hold the XD Jeep, which i was surprised about since it's somewhat underscale. So i'm going to have the Jeep driving out of it with a few troops on it.

Whew.

That's a good way of looking at it Aferg. Be sure and post some pictures of the diorama.

Got to love the way some people on flea bay pack things huh? Bought a sewing machine they put it in a bigger box than needed and used news paper as filler . Needless to say it did not travel well

Where is this lifesize diorama?

Sorry to hear about your damaged glider, but like you said you can still make a nice post-landing dio out of it.

i don't know where that diorama is. It was pretty easy to find on the net, so i'm sure you could track it down fairly easily.
