Empty Boxes, can they be folded up ???
With all the tanks I've bought over the last months, I've taken the models out of the boxs for display when not filming. Can the boxes be folded up LEAVING the base inside without damaging the box ??? I could surely use some of the wasted room by leaving them intact for even more empty box storage, cause I plan to buy more to make my armies grow
I also have the US transport trucks and Hamong boxes too. Almost all the boxs are 21st cen. and BBI. Thanks, Gen. Blasto

What to do w/ the boxes ( ? )
I keep all my boxes. ... I store the ones I don't need in a large plastic container w/ lid , that you can buy at WAL* MART ,.. and put the plastic bases and such in a separate container.
I flatten back out the boxes like they would in a production / assembly line , and simply store them in a Rubbermaid ® container w/ lid.

Do you guys intent to resell these items and reinstall all the little plastic ropes and sell these pieces as new?
Or is the feeling that you will just get more money selling the item with the original box?
I am asking because I have found, that in reselling these items it makes no difference in selling the item with a box or without one. If somebody wants a particular item, they will buy it. Sure some guys will only buy a MIB but MIB is not the same as "displayed piece sold with formally crushed box and a hundred twist ties in place of plastic cord"......
If they want it, they will buy it as long as it has only been on display and not played with by a four year old and not displayed in a smoking home...cough...cough..
Case in point....current market for 1/18 Panther...vs. say the current market (or lack of market) for a 1/18 CC....
Thoughts please?
BTW, I keep only one end of the box showing details of the piece, which I transfer to an index card showing what I paid for the item and a pencil figure of what it is worth at a given date. I do this so, if I kick da bucket, my kids and Mrs. TTT will know what is worth selling and what is worth saving and what they can just give to the little people to play with.......when you're as old as dirt, you kind of think like that.......

Sometimes I am the windshield, sometimes, I am the bug.
Being an apartment dwelling troll, I keep my boxes in case I have to move again. Currently most of my tanks and all of my planes are still in boxes. I did experoiment with a BBI Sherman box though. I took the base out, folded the box up to it's smallest original siize and then tied the base to the box with string. It takes up a lot less space that way.

I totaly disagree with youi. The majority of our XD sells for about 1/3 or so better w/box. Loose will not bring near as much money. This has been proved time and time again on the mother of all sellers E-bay.

Pickel...
I can't see it unless you are misleading the buyer into thinking he is bidding on a MIB item.
Now, I'm not saying any fraud here, but by not saying the item had been on display I think you are just leading the buyer astray.
I do agree that a boxed MIB will bring more, but NOT a displayed item stuck back in the box. At that point it all depends on the item....common or big buzz on the item.
Any other opinions?

Agree with this on the more rare items. However, if there are still choices, having the original box is a plus and will likely net you a bit more.Threetoughtrucks wrote: I am asking because I have found, that in reselling these items it makes no difference in selling the item with a box or without one. Lord yes.. If you are advertising an item in box and aren't clear on whether it's been open/displayed vs factory sealed you are knowingly misleading the buyer. When in doubt, I always ask the seller.Threetoughtrucks wrote:Sure some guys will only buy a MIB but MIB is not the same as "displayed piece sold with formally crushed box and a hundred twist ties in place of plastic cord"......![]()

saving boxs ...
I am saving boxs for the reason that if and when I DO move.
It just makes life a bit easier. I have kept SOME of the rubber band, but will not use all of them if boxing up the item. and I AM the person buying up the Panthers at this time and don't intend to sell them anytime too soon, if ever. Some Panthers will become Jadgpanthers, some other piece of Armour. I like to have fun building and kitbashing things. It makes the hobby a challange
I did pick up some large clear storage totes and plan to break the boxes down by folding them and putting the bases in the other tote. This will save me a TON of room

Having just completed a horrendous move from a eight room house with a full basement (my bunker plus storage) and a full attic (storage) and a two car garage (more stotage) into a five room house w/no basement, attic only over my one car garage AND we haven't thrown much out. Think two pounds of...........in a one pound bag....
Now back to the point.....all my 1/18 and smaller toys were packed in large plastic bins in peanuts, think Wallyworld.......and not a single casuaslty outside of one Mg-34 snapped off a tank turret. Easy glue fix. Pheeewwww.
I did have casualties in a few 1/6 pieces which I personally moved and put in what I thought was a good out of the way spot. Subsequent trips by my sons ("Pop. we all have trucks and trailers and big cars...we don't need no stinken moving truck!!!!!!"..........think the Clampetts move to Beverly Hills),..my boys had my 1/6 toys moved and more glue was the result.....still can't find at least two boxes....still buried in the garage..(was missing a 40mm barrel for a month, found it, now I can't find my T-34 turret.....the tank sits on my floor with one pathetic crewman standing in the turretless tank...
End result, my MIB toys (for future resell) in 1/18 or 1/6 were perfect.....but I don't think putting toys back in the box and packing them with peanuts would have done anything but take up room. Plastic bins with a layer of toys covered by peanuts, each layer of toys covered by more peanuts ..etc., etc. and a perfert use for those peanuts packed in bags from years of buying toys. The bins are much stronger and more useful after the move, than original toy boxes..
BTW....only four months later and my shelves are filled and only have four 1/6 tanks and a few odd pieces and helos left out in the cold (say garage wall). Now to just add about 70 or so 1/6 figs to already filled shelves.....
still have room for my Dauntless and B-25 and whatever else comes down the pike in 1/18...Kingtiger? 88mm? Hellcat? and my SdKfz 251 and 75mm Pack Howitzer in 1/6, when they arrive.

I starting laughing at this statement when I first read it.
But as I re-read it, it makes excellent sense.
My wife would just sell all my "army stuff" at a yard sale for a buck each or give it away to local orphans...

Wife sellin' toys
Ouch
Hopefully it won't come to that. Wars have been known to have started that way
And not only is that true, but if so, you'll need all the support(units) on your side

No question, yard sale with my toys for a buck each, bought by "Q-tips" (little gray haired ladies) who will give them to their crumsnatchers to smash.
That is my little army's future, if I didn't leave info about my toys and dollies. My three kids will take what they want and most of the rest will go to evil bay.
I used to tell the family that when, and if, I kick, I want to be buried in my M-37, surrounded by my toys. Now, my guys have my trucks and my daughter lives on evil bay......she'd buy groceries on eBay if she could, so that's the future of my little toys and dollies...I can only hope they go to some good hands that way. I'll end up stuffed and sitting on a couch watching TV...I'll have a tape recorder in my chest that will say things like "Give me the control", or "While you're up, get me a cold drink", or "Don't change that channel, there's a Duke Wayne flick comming on"

changed my mind
After spending loads of time trying to fold up the Tiger boxes and only getting less than 15 of them into a large plastic tote, I changed my mind. As of now, I will save only the bases and toss out the boxes. Any special kitbashed models can be placed in small cardboard boxes to store for moving. All others can be wrapped in bubble wrap, then placed in plastic tubs for moving. General Blasto
