We sort of have Tom Hanks in the WWII BBI figure Col. Steele

I would love to have the Band of Brothers figures.
It would be awesome!

Platoon would be good too.

Both movies would have perks in that each would HAVE to include their vehicles....
Band of Brothers- C-47 Jump planes

Platoon - (we got some of their stuff in re-issued M-48s, Mutts this summer - WE JUST NEED THE FIGURES!!!!)

Right on!!

I wish I could submit more than one vote. I voted Band of Brothers, but I think Platoon is an awesome choice. Also, one that not too many people have seen, Saints and Soldiers, Great movie and almost all the soldiers are re-enactors.
Also would love to see a few Apocalipse Now Figs. At Least a Kilgore!! With Surfboard! Apparently you can get a Killgore head for your 1/6 1st Cav Huey Pilot. Pretty cool. The Harrison Ford character would be easy, just pop a Han Solo head on. Also what Vietnam collection would be complete without an official Animal Mother action fig!!!

Wow, that's a tough one.

Band of Brothers jumps out at me first since the characters are real. Kelly's Heros or Full Metal Jacket stand out since they were really entertaining movies with memorable characters. Heartbreak Ridge too.

I think a movie line that might be comparable to Band of Brothers is 'Flags of Our Fathers.' That also focuses on the actual people involved in the conflict.
If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. Then quit. No use being a damn fool about it.

I don't collect figures or vehicles but if they came out with a group of figures from "Kelly's Heroes" I'd get them and a sherman just for a diorama from the movie.

I vote for "Kelly's Heroes" first!

Followed by "Saving Pvt Ryan" with a close "Band of Brothers!"
That is the Mooovies!

Now TV!
I have always wanted a Rick Jason and Vic Morrow and the rest of the crew from "COMBAT". Sergeant Saunders, Lt. Hanley, Littlejohn, Kirby, Caje, and Doc would make great figures and an awsome 1/18 squad!

And we could also paint some of our US vehicles to look like German vehicles, just like in the series!

Enemy At The Gates....Za Stalina!! Za Rodinu!! (For Stalin, For the Motherland!)

As a second choice I kinda like Zonetoys idea of the squad from the Combat! TV series. There is however one glaring inaccuracy in the Combat! squads uniform: Sgt. Saunders camo helmet cover....camo helmet covers like that were not used in Europe but in the Pacific theater, but the story is that Vic Morrow wore the camo cover to pay his respects to a Marine buddy who died I believe.

Tough call between Band of Brothers and Platoon. But Platoon wins out for me because I'll take any 1:18 VN they're willing to produce.

War Movie Figure Line

Post by lightning2000 » Sun Oct 08, 2006 8:01 am

Hi,
I'd go with Battle of the Bulge or Dirty Dozen before Heartbreak Ridge. Lots of big name actors in both flicks that could easily translate to the micro battlefield. Of course, my all-time favorite war movie is Zulu, but thats me. At 100 yards, volley fire present....FIRE!

movie lines

We have SPR - Hanks head & uni, Sizemore head & uni, Byrnes uni, Pepper head..a couple of more key head sculpts (byrnes) and we have them all basically.

I voted BoB but was thinking outside of exact likenesses, don't we already have them in the bbi 101st para? Helmet, kit, etc..with a few head swaps you have a band for all intents and purposes..so is it just the exact faces we want? If so I would change my vote - don't need those guys' likenesses per se; as a matter of fact the show is more likable b/c they are not that famous (I still see that one guy as from Office Space, can't get over it). For famous faces Platoon was a good choice...shame it got derailed somewhere along the way.. :?

I picked Full Metal Jacket cause it was my first real war movie, i had seen others but this flick was much cooler. Usually you see soldiers portrayed real nice like heroes or some other unreal character. And a dio of Gunny Ermy chewin Pvt Pyles fat ass just before he shoots him and hisself would be the centerpeice of my collection!
