21st 1/18 King Tiger
I thought I remember reading here some where that 21st will be producing a 1/18 King Tiger tank in the near future. Is that true?
If so how much bigger would the chasse be compared to the 1/18 RC panzer out there right now?

I can see getting about 20 of these and starting my own Battle of the Bulge
I am sure that they will do the Henchel turret, but what if they were to do both
Henchel and Porche
If not that should be an easy custom. Slap some zimmermit on to hide things and you are ready to shoot up some T-34's ,K-1's and Shermans. The Russians are the new tanks of '08 . I am telling the future here guys. They have got to sell these tanks at some time.If they do a limited production run they will sell out in about a month. That is a way off and we need to stock pile these Kings so that we are ready for the offensive
That will be the new Ace contest. Buy 4 Tiger II's and win a new custom Mause or Ferdinan
Yeah dream on. (and I will)

Not to try and discourage anyone from attempting it, but as someone who has considerable gas and electric powered RC modeling experience I can tell you that such a conversion will not be easy to do, not impossible mind you, but it will be a pretty complex project, major surgery will be required, and many many hours of work will be involved, not the kind of thing you can expect to complete in a weekend. Don't take my word for it though, there are a number of good sites around the web that deal exclusively with RC tanks and conversions of this type, I would strongly recommend you go to one of their forums and pick someones brain about exactly what will be involved. Good luck.thanks, my thought was to buy the current RC panzer at discount price, gut it and use its RC components and convert the King into an RC King.

Picklehaube: I really like the idea of a tank Ace contest too. With planes, it is hard for me to justify buying the same scheme over and over. But with tanks, seeing the same serial numbers and unit marks repeated doesn't seem to bother me as much. So, I am down with the armor ace idea.

Joking aside, I agree this will be major surgery and require alot of time, research and possible funds. What I plan on doing is documenting this process and creating a thread on the process with details, references, etc. Between the release of the 1/18 King and the start of this, I would predict that I will have alot of research done, contacts in place and possibly man will return to the moon with the way 21st do timed releases!

Again, I don't want to discourage anyone, just want to make you aware of what you'd be getting yourself in to.and to this I say, NAW - just crack it open and start doing it!

I think that you should hold off of the R/C idea. When the Mk IV came out they sold out almost instantly and still bring more money on e-bay. They did so well that they were re-issued in R/C. With about 4 paints in the long barrel and 2 in the short. The same thing will happen with the Tiger II. Be patent wait and the mountain will come to Mohamed.
